Abstract The problem motivating this study is the urgent need to explore antecedents of STEM career interest and growing importance coding in careers, coupled with unclear relationship between intrinsic interest. To narrow research gap, explores direct indirect effects on As a quantitative cross-sectional survey research, 669 students from three senior high schools two large Chinese cities were investigated.
